ironbridge

IRONBRIDGE GORGE

Ironbridge Gorge is a designated World Heritage Site. It was the home of the Industrial Revolution and you can still see today many of the original features including the first Ironbridge of its kind spanning the River Severn.

There are many places to eat, drink and shop and a large array of museums and activity centres, something for all the family approximately 25 minutes away.

CANNOCK CHASE

Cannock Chase is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Located roughly 15 minutes away by car, this former Royal Forest is an extensive area of mixed woodland.

Today it is home to numerous visitor centres, outdoor pursuits (GoApe), museums (including several war memorials) and way marked pathways & cycle routes including parts of the Heart of England Way and Staffordshire Way.

WESTON PARK

Former home of the Earl’s of Bradford, Weston Park has a rich history including an internationally important art collection, extensive Capability Brown landscaped parkland and all the grandeur you would expect of a stately home.

Roughly 5 minutes away by car it is also home to a cafe/deli and a restaurant (The Granary).

SHREWSBURY

Shrewsbury is a large market town on the River Severn in Shropshire. It has a largely unspoilt medieval layout and over 660 listed buildings including many exampled of timber framing from the 15th & 16th centuries.

25 minutes away by car is it home to Shrewsbury Castle (founded 1074) and Shrewsbury Abbey (founded 1083) as well as being the birthplace of Charles Darwin.

BIRMINGHAM

Approximately 30 minutes away by car, Birmingham is the UK’s second largest city and has a vast array of activities for all the family. Birthplace of bands such as Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, UB40, Duran Duran and many more, to this day it has a thriving culture of music and theatre.

For those a little younger the city is home to Legoland, The Sea Life Centre, Cadbury world and many more.

ALTON TOWERS

Previously a stately home for almost 200 years, Alton Towers has been entertaining thrill seekers as a theme park for over 40 years. It is home to many famous rides such as Nemesis, Oblivion and Air.

Roughly 50 minutes away by car the park also has a water-park, crazy golf course and the expansive gardens of the original stately home.

TRENTHAM ESTATE

The estate was first recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086, today it is home to a large manor house and extensive gardens which feature large formal Italianate gardens, a serpentine park designed by Capability Brown and the formal gardens laid out by Sir Charles Barry.

Also on the estate you will find Trentham Monkey Forest where you are able to get up close and personal with many species of monkey. Roughly 45 minutes away by car.
